Family Advocates provides support to disabled children and their families. Our goal is to help families in their effort to function successfully in school, at home and in their communities. We also advocate and represent senior citizens. Our elder law program is small but growing. Most activities focus on consumer rights, credit collections, and foreclosure. Our children’s advocacy program is strong and has been operational since 1994. We are dedicated to improving the quality of life for disadvantaged and disabled children, providing legal services to parents on issues of special education and related services.
Family Advocates offers free and low-cost legal services, focusing on independent living and self-sufficiency. This incorporates the following areas of law: education law, disabilities law, special education law and civil rights. We operate within the various legal, medical, educational and social services systems. We go to Family Court, federal court and administrative hearings. We strive to create a safe place for individuals to learn self-advocacy skills and offer a forum for the exchange of ideas and information.
